    This middle grade fantasy was excellent. No it wasn't. It was EXCELLENT. The main character is a handicapped 13 year old princess who, through adventures she doesn't want, discovers how capable she actually is. The world is an alternate Middle Ages type which, although typical to the genre, is anything BUT typical. The Saints referenced as dragon slayers are male and female, and this is seen as normal. The adults seem completely unreasonable, until the princess gains a little wisdom. The growth in this story is simultaneously subtle and glaringly obvious. The writing is clear and emotive. I highly recommend it for middle grade readers who like high fantasy. Reviewed by Kelly
