I didn't feel a connection with the main character.  Seemed like this graphic novel was trying to cover too much -- junior high and high school and gave it a gloss rather than an in-depth treatment.

The Truth About Stacey Ann M. Martin's The Babysitters Club #2 Graphic Novel by Raina Telgemeier I remember enjoying the books as a kid, but not overly so. I don't think I owned any, just got them from friends or the library every so often.  This is an amazing update. The artwork is fresh, the telling does not feel at all dated, and I wanted to read more. I did not read #1, I just grabbed this off the library shelf. I didn't feel lost (partially because of what I remembered) but mostly because the story is pretty self contained. You can follow along really well without much help. Great middle grade graphic novel. - Miss Kelly

Let me start by saying that I am not a fan of novels based solely around romance.  If romance is involved in my fantasy or sci-fi or historical novel, bring it on.  A straight up romance is not my cup of tea, however.  That being said, this book was not my cup of tea.  Not entirely. The story centers around Luka and Dora, two young kids growing up in Croatia who are inseparable. That is until Dora’s parents move the family to Paris.  What follows is essentially a tale of star crossed lovers.  The reunite only to be separated, etc, etc.  As I neared the end I found myself increasingly annoyed with both of them, but mostly with Luka.  Aside from the move Dora’s family makes when she is a child, all the couple’s problems are brought on by them, in various ways.  Being honest again, most of the problems are brought on by Luka.  He seemed likable enough, but in the end he just grated on my nerves. I was 11, nearly 12, when Princess Diana died.  I remember watching her funeral on TV and thinking that her two sons, walking behind her casket through the streets of London, had to have the hardest job in the world that day.  As anyone might expect, the experience of losing their mother at such an age and in such a horrific way had an intense impact on Prince William and Prince Harry. Known more often for his wild ways, Prince Harry has settled down in the last few years, becoming a top notch Apache helicopter pilot and starting his own charity for AIDS orphans in Lesotho.  Penny Junor is a bit heavy handed in the beginning.  From this reader's standpoint, it seems pretty clear that she was not the biggest fan of the Princess of Wales.  I found the first chapters somewhat difficult to get through.  Sure, the info on the trials and tribulations of the marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales was somewhat interesting (although, if you pay a...
